About Tire Valve

Tire Valve Introduction

The tire valve is installed on the tire to fill and discharge gas and maintain tire pressure. It is one of the important components for safe driving of the car. It is mainly composed of the tire valve body, tire valve core and tire valve dust cap.

Composition of Tire Valves

  • Tire valve body: usually made of metal, tightly connected to the rim of the tire to ensure that the gas does not leak.
  • Tire valve core: located inside the valve body, it controls the in and out of the gas. When you use a pump or air filling equipment to inflate the tire, the valve core will open to allow gas to enter the tire; when the inflation is completed, the valve core will close to prevent gas leakage.
  • Tire valve dust cap: used to protect the valve, prevent dust, dirt and other impurities from entering the valve and affecting the normal operation of the valve core.

According to the material:

Rubber tire valve: generally made of rubber or EPDM.

About Tire Valve

  •  Advantages: cheap price, relatively simple installation.
  •  Disadvantages: easy to age, short service life, generally 3-4 years. If your vehicle is used less frequently and you are sensitive to cost, you can choose a rubber valve.

Metal tire valve: usually brass is used as the main material.

About Tire Valve

  • Advantages: strong and durable, not easy to age, long service life, generally up to 5-8 years. At the same time, the appearance of metal valves is usually more beautiful, which can enhance the overall texture of the vehicle.
  • Disadvantages: relatively high price. If your vehicle is used more frequently, or you want the valve to work stably for a long time, then a metal valve is a better choice.

Tire valve classification

Snap-on tire valve:  the most commonly used one, fixed to the rim by snaps, easy to install.

  • Advantages: easy to install, no professional tools are required, you can install it yourself.
  • Disadvantages: relatively poor sealing, prone to air leakage. Snap-on tire valve is suitable for some car owners who have high requirements for installation convenience, but the sealing of the tire valve needs to be checked regularly after installation.

Threaded tire valve: connected to the rim by threads, good sealing, but relatively complicated to install.

  • Advantages: good sealing, not prone to air leakage.
  • Disadvantages: relatively complicated installation, requiring professional tools. Threaded tire valve is suitable for car owners who have high requirements for sealing, but it is best to be operated by professionals during installation.

Important Role of Tire Valve

  1. Maintaining Tire Pressure: Proper tire pressure is crucial to the driving safety and performance of the vehicle. The tire valve can ensure that the tire always maintains the proper air pressure inside, preventing tire blowouts and uneven wear due to excessive or low air pressure.
  2. Convenient inflation and deflation: When you need to inflate the tire or adjust the air pressure, just connect the inflation device through the tire valve.
  3. Monitoring Tire Pressure: Some advanced tire valve stems are also equipped with tire pressure monitoring sensors that can monitor the tire pressure in real time and transmit the data to the vehicle's dashboard or mobile phone, so that you can always know the tire pressure status.

Daily maintenance of Tire Valve

1.Check the tire valves regularly: Check if the valves are damaged, aged, leaking, etc. If there is a problem with the tire valves, they should be replaced in time.

  1. Keep the tire valves clean: Clean dust, dirt and other impurities on the tire valves regularly to ensure the normal operation of the tire valves.
  2. Install the dust caps correctly: The dust caps can not only protect the tire valves, but also prevent the valve core from being accidentally opened. Therefore, when the valves are not in use, make sure that the dust caps are firmly installed.
