Car Lifts FAQs

What is the required ceiling height for the car lift?

The lifting height of a two-post lift is between 1.8 and 2.5 meters. If we consider that the height of an ordinary car is about 1.4 to 1.5 meters, the total height of the vehicle after the two-post lift is fully lifted may reach about 3.5 to 4 meters (including the height of the lift itself and the safety margin). Therefore, the ceiling height of the site where the two-post lift is installed should be above 4 meters to ensure the safe operation of the vehicle during the lifting process.

The lifting height of a four-post lift is generally around 1.6 to 2.2 meters. Taking an SUV with a height of about 1.7 to 1.8 meters as an example, the total height of the vehicle after the four-post lift is fully lifted may reach about 3.8 to 4.2 meters (also including the height of the lift itself and the safety margin). Therefore, the ceiling height of the site where the four-post lift is installed is recommended to be above 4.2 meters to ensure that there is enough space for vehicle lifting operations.

The lifting height of a scissor lift is generally around 1.2 - 1.8 meters. For a scissor lift used on an ordinary car, the total height after the vehicle is lifted may reach around 3 - 3.6 meters (considering the height of the lift itself and the safety margin). Therefore, the ceiling height of the installation site should preferably be above 3.6 meters.

Any advice for first-time installers?

First, carefully assess the conditions of the installation site. Measure the dimensions of the site, including length, width, and height, to ensure that the site space can accommodate the lift and meet the space requirements for its operation.

Identify the type of vehicle to be lifted and determine the required lifting height. If it is mainly a sedan, then a two-post or scissor lift may be more suitable; if you also need to lift larger vehicles such as SUVs and light trucks, a four-post lift may be a better choice.

Carefully read the installation manual, which contains important information such as detailed installation steps, required tools, and safety precautions. For example, the manual will clearly indicate the tightening torque of each bolt, which is crucial to ensure the quality and safety of the lift installation.

During the installation process, if you encounter steps or technical problems that you don’t understand, contact the manufacturer’s customer service or professional technical support personnel in a timely manner. Don’t install based on guesswork to avoid safety hazards.

Do car lifts require maintenance?

Beyond a common-sense visual inspection every time you raise or lower a vehicle, a simple monthly inspection checklist is probably the most you'll need to do on a regular basis. Electrical components are inspected, cables require maintenance, and so do hydraulic systems.

Do car lifts come in different voltages?

Depending on the power supply conditions of each country, it can be divided into the following three voltages: 110V/220V/380V. The voltage options vary depending on the model.

What size circuit breaker is required for the power supply unit of the lift?

For 220V, a circuit breaker with a rated current of about 16A is generally selected.

For 380V, it is recommended to select a circuit breaker with a rated current of about 32A.

Are lift parts available locally?

Currently not available

What is the proper way to adjust and level the equalizer or lift cables?

First make sure the lift is in the fully lowered position and the vehicle is not on the lift. Loosen all cables on the lock and tighten each cable until the car or corner begins to lift from the lock. Repeat this process with other cables until the corner/car is level all around.

Why does my two-post lift arm bounce when it moves up and down?

You may have air in your lines. Raise the lift to first lock and unscrew the bleed screw on top of the cylinder to bleed trapped air from the system. When fluid begins to leak, tighten the screw.
